Happy Mother’s Day!

Not only was yesterday Mother’s Day, it was also the Prague Marathon. My family and I didn’t make a special trip anywhere since we were glued to the TV watching the events of the marathon unfold. Once upon a time, my husband and I were runners and the Prague marathon has always been something that we were hoping to do one day. You will understand why if you watch this:

Anyhow, I got a beautiful set of flowers from my husband and my favorite chocolate bar.

I was asking Jakub if he had any flowers for me but he said he can’t give me any because they’re being used at the moment. I probed further and this is what I found.

Anyway, I hope all you moms out here had a great mother’s day! I sure did.

One Happy Mama

Today is one of those days when I feel like we hit a significant milestone.

On a normal day, Jakub plays like this.

He is either on his bike or pulling his toy trucks.  Sometimes he will be pushing his toy mower.

Since I was busy with house work, I allowed him to play by himself in his room.  When everything got quiet, I thought he fell asleep.

Some days, it is normal to find him like this.

Sleeping on the living room couch.

But it was way too early for a nap, so I got nervous.  What happened to my son?  Did he get into an accident?

But here he was…reading a book.

Apparently, he took a chair to go up and get the book.

Normally, he would take my hand, point to a book and ask me to read it to him.  But today he decided to do it himself.

Although going on top of the chair can be dangerous, I appreciated the fact that he loves to read!

To add to my joy, he even handed me a flower he made out of his legos.

Today, I am one happy mama.

Pruhonice Park: A Romantic Park in Prague

Pruhonice Park is a great place for nature lovers and those looking for romantic walks in Prague.  Located southeast of Prague, the park is approximately 15kms away from the city center.

My favorite spot in the park is the Chateau overlooking the pond.  On a great day, you can almost see its image directly reflected on the pond below it.

We visited this park in March this year and were only able to catch the remnants of winter, but the place itself was already beautiful.  I haven’t been back since but I can already imagine what it looks like now.

There are several species of flowers and trees lining the path and it is arranged in a way that it respects natural terrain but offering nice viewpoints.

As we went further into the park, this is what we saw.

This is just one of those flowers surrounding the whole area.

There is also a botanical garden inside the park but we didn’t visit it during that time because the flowers were not yet in full bloom.

Artificial bridges can also be found at designated spots for easy transfer to key spots areas.  There are marked trails for long and short walks.

Pruhonice Park is definitely one of my favorite places in Prague.  If you are ever in the area, you may want to check it out too.

More information about the park can be found here.
