It has almost been five years now since I set foot in the Czech Republic. Originally from the Philippines, I first came to the United States in search for “greener pastures.” Living there for several years, I thought it was going to be home for me. But little did I know that the stars had a different plan for me. I met and fell in love with a Czech Man.
Like all great love stories, ours involved marriage and children. After several years of living in the States and weighing the advantages and disadvantages of raising a family there, we decided to settle in the Czech Republic, my husband’s home country.
Since I have never lived in Europe before, I am blogging about our experiences here. This will basically be a journal of my adventures as I try to fit into my new home – from learning the language, discovering cultural eccentricities and raising a family in a multi-cultural household. In this blog, I hope to give you a glimpse about life in the Czech Republic through a transplant’s eyes. I also intend to share with you personal experiences about the many beautiful places in Czech that are not normally found in tourist books.
So come with me as we journey through the Czech Republic together!
wow, so nice to catch up with you on your blog! Well done Miss Grace:). We send our love to you and your adorable family. Sorry we did not get to see you before your left….our loss.
Love you big,

Yes,there are a lot of cultural differences between the US and CZ. It was a difficult adjustment in the beginning but I am now starting to appreciate everything about this country I now call home. My plan is to visit Czech before we leave Germany. Any suggestions besides the cities? all my friends go to pottery shop
LikeLike
There are a lot of things that CZ can offer. The only pottery shop that I’ve been to outside of Prague is at Botanicus – http://www.botanicus.cz/en . Aside from the gardens, there is a little medieval village where one of the main attractions is pottery. It is quite interesting. It is less than an hour from Prague, so it is convenient for travel.
However, my personal favorite other than Prague is Cesky Krumlov. http://www.ckrumlov.info/docs/en/kaktualita.xml
The only downside is that it is a 3-hour drive from Prague, but it is closer to Germany. You can check it out from the link above.
Other places that are interesting and closer to Prague are:
Karlstejn Castle – http://www.hradkarlstejn.cz/en/
Konopiste Castle – http://www.zamek-konopiste.cz/
Pruhonice – http://www.parkpruhonice.cz/index.php?site=en&p=index
Kutna Hora – http://www.kutnahora.cz/?lns=en
I hope this helps.
Thanks for visiting my blog and please feel free to ask any questions.
